Town will part company with 15% of their non-playing staff as the financial problems at the club continue to bite. Town chairman David Sheepshanks described the move as "regrettable" and "sad" and paid tribute to the club's off-field employees.

Town climbed to 12th in the table after completing the Christmas league programme with a 4-1 home win over Millwall in torrential rain. Tommy Miller put Town ahead before Steven Reid put the Lions back on terms. However, Jermaine Wright, Marcus Bent and Miller again completed the victory.

Tommy Miller is Joe Royle's main worry ahead of the New Year's Day clash with Millwall at Portman Road. Miller picked up a knock against Walsall to the same knee which has also hampered him due to a tendinitis problem recently.

Town manager Joe Royle has included Jim Magilton in his squad despite the midfielder having missed training this week with a groin problem. Tommy Miller also missed training today but is still likely to be OK for the visit to Fratton Park on Saturday.

Town manager Joe Royle will be taking on one of his best friends in football when the Blues meet Brighton and Hove Albion at the Withdean Stadium on Tuesday night (7.45pm). Royle has been impressed with the job that Steve Coppell has done at Brighton since he took over but will be seeking to put an end to their recovery.
